The moment
small town girl Misaki Suzuhara arrives in Tokyo, she is thrust into the
excitement of Angelic Layer-a high-tech, fast-paced game where dolls called
Angels are controlled by the thoughts of their operators, also called Deus.
Twelve-year-old
Misaki, a middle school freshman now living with her aunt, quickly makes
friends with others who are as interested in Angelic Layer as she is. Misaki
builds her own Angel, Hikaru, and begins competing in battles where will
and determination count for far more than size and strength.

get the hang of Angelic Layer quickly enough to avoid defeat? Who is that
mysterious man who keeps popping up, anyway? And what is really the deal

Review:
This anime is a pure joy to watch, great characters, fun story, and.......well
it's just great. Angelic Layer is another great example why CLAMP
is tops on everyones list. Leave it to CLAMP to turn fashion dolls
into a fighting tournament. Take that Mattel and your Stepfordwife
Barbie dolls.
If you have seen or read enough CLAMP you will start to see salute to other
CLAMP series. Misaki is a lot like Sakura from Card Captor Sakura
and most of the main cast goes to Eriol Academy, Eriol being a rival latter
in Card Captor Sakura. Misaki's angel, Hikaru looks very much like
Hikaru form Rayearth (minus the ponytail). While there aren't tons
of them it's scattered lightly to be nice, but not annoying or overly obvious
so that people who aren't familiar to CLAMP can still enjoy it.
I've had these fansubs for a while (long before it was licenced), since
I was working on reviews for two other anime with the word "Angel" in the
tile I figures I'd throw this one in too. If you have the chance
to see this anime I highly recommend, it is very choice. Sorry,
about that I say Ferius Builer on TV the other day. However, the
sentiment is the same, like most CLAMP tiles this anime is highly recommend. |
