"Enter
a World where the lines between reality and Virtual Reality are not always
what they seem!"
Reiji Ohzora
is a completely lazy bum. He’s the ‘tardy champion’ at school and also
a terrible student who gives up on everything! Unable to bear seeing her
childhood friend waste away his youth, Maiko Yukino introduces Reiji to
a virtual-reality game called ‘Dragon Drive’ – a fighting game in which
players are partnered with dragons and then fight each other in a virtual-reality
city. Will Reiji’s under achieving personality and a less than spectacular
looking dragon be enough to take on the strongest players and dragons in
the world? Chances are likely he’ll fail miserably…but maybe this time,
Reiji’s finally found something he won’t give up on! |
Review:
I like
Pokemon, I like Digimon, I didn't like this.
It not
like it was all that bad but it's just dull. Other than a few new
elements or two it seems just nothing very new. I liked some of the
dragon designs (especially Chibi). They way the game is played it
remided me a bit of Angelic Layer, but with cards. Obviously, geared
for a younger audience.
The interactions
between the charaters was good, but it didn't click with me. Maybe
it was the CG monsters. I mean is it too hard to draw the monsters
anymore? Then, the animation seemed low budget which just made them
seem too jumpy. What is it with this low quality animation anymore?
More of the computer animated anime I've been reading about, I guess.
I saw
some pictures and read some stuff about it getting better with some good
plot twists after the first four volumes. I certainly hope so.
I'm willing to give it a few more episodes, but if it don't get better
fast. I'm gonna stop watching it.
The whole
concept and formula seems redentant. Granted there are some good
parts, most of which center arount Chibi, Reiji's Dragon (the little white
one). As for right now, I suggest Angelic Layer over this.
Maybe further view may change my opinion, but don't hold you breath. |
