Back)
Poetry-spouting Tatewaki Kuno invites Ranma & Co. for a jaunt on his
new luxury yacht. A sudden storm shipwrecks them on a deserted island,
and it isn't long before all the young girls in the group start disappearing
one by one. It turns out that they've been bridenapped by Prince Toma,
youthful ruler of the floating island Togenkyo. Because of a magical spring
which turns anything it touches instantly male, would-be bridegrooms have
to kidnap girls...and in this case, Ranma's fiancee Akane is one of them.
In order to rescue the girls (not to mention get his hands on that magical
water!), Ranma must enter an anything-goes martial arts bride-off which
includes such events as "survival flower-arranging" and "obstacle-course
cooking." Can Ranma ("in disguise" as a girl) beat scores of other kidnapped
concubines, win the contest, rescue Akane, and get the magical Togenkyo
water, all while wearing a push-up bra and three-inch heels...? |
Review:
*Hums
theme to Gilligan's Island* Sorry, watching Kuno trying to fix his
broken boat with the whole gang on a deserted island makes me want to sing
the theme to Gilligan's Island. ....a three hour tour......
Much better
than the first one, not much else to say just that is was good.
Useful review ain't it? This one is also much funnier.
Something about the Ranma movies lack the magic of the manga, anime and
OAVs. Maybe it's just me or the fact that the are not in Nemira.
This is a very good movie, but it's is missing something, but I don't know
what it is.
One thing
that gets me is that Akane, Ukyo, and Shampoo didn't seem to try to fight
their way out after being caught. All three of them are very good
fighters, why didn't they try? I know I'm not too far (vol. 12) into
the manga but, since when do Ranma and Ryouga use energy blasts like thay
are in DBZ? |
