Review:
Nine times out ten I perfer dubs, this isn't one of them. I liked
the dub of the TV series, but the dub of this movie is below par, granted
the original Japanese track is very good, which I saw first. In fact
I think the dub is less funny, and I didn't like the seemingly forced Looney
Toons references.
The movie is very good in just about every way. For a Slayers outing
there isn't as much comedy, it still has it's funny moments, mostly in
the beginning. This was the first taste of Slayers back when I say
it subbed, thankfully I found out that Naga isn't in the TV series.
Needless to say, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Naga. Also, Worst.....translation....of.....the
Dragon.....Slave......spell ....ever!
A nice little thing is that Roudy is a decendant of Gourry from the TV
series, you'll see how that works out later *HINT!* ^_^
Overall, Very recommended in a subtitled format. If you are excepting
a laugh out loud Slayers story look elsewhere this one is more action than
usual. |
