Review:
     *blink* *blink*
How can I describe this?  HOW THE HELL DO I DESCRIBE THIS?
I really like the TV series, so far all 13 episodes I've seen.  The series was wonderful and strange enough to be great, but not too weird, but wired enough.   This movie is like the twilight zone bisecting a parallel dimension, and blowing up in afire ball.  The whole thing is like some bad dream.   It's bad enough the plot of the series is screwed up, but they also mess up the characters.   If you though there was a lot of shoujo-ai in the TV series, the movies bleeds it.
People say that it has a lot of symbolism,  well I think there should be a book that goes along with the movie to explain everything.  Like, why is Nanami a cow?  Was Touga raped? and HOW THE HELL AND WHY DID UTENA TURN INTO A CAR.  Then the school is redesigned in to a post-modern / neo-classical nightmare, chalk board flying around and parts of the school seem to be moving for no reason.
Then, we get several different back stories about the rose bride and never find out which one is real.  The most exciting part is some sort of bizarre Speed Racer race to the "Outside World".  For those of us who watched the dub you are treated to a well acted and fair sounding cast (Japanese voices are much better in this one)   with one glaring problem, half the names are mispronounced by the dub cast, badly.  Would it hurt to have them listen to the sub to get the names right?
If I had to pick one thing I liked about this movie.  I would have to say is the dance scene with Utena and Anthy, which is very, very nice.  The scene made the movie bearable.  Brilliant scene with the stars and roses and a awesome song.
This movie should be avoided, for your safety and the safety of those around you.  But should be seen once.
